Procession of the Ghouls
Ryan and I went to the coolest thing last night! The cathedral of St John the Divine puts on a festive Halloween party every year the Friday before Halloween. It's the biggest cathedral in the world, and it has a HUGE set of pipes for the organ, which is awesome because they screen Nosferatu while a Juilliard organist accompanies the film live. I was so so excited to see it on a big screen with live music. It was a film students' dream.
After the screening, they lit up the cathedral in eerie colours, cranked up fog machines, and played creepy music while puppeteers with ghoul costumes and contraptions came creeping through the aisles. It was so perfect for Halloween, and an even more perfect setting! The huge gothic arches looked so cool with the striking shadows and saturated colours.
Happy Halloween!
