It was a very gloomy, gray, overcast day at the lagoon near the bay we visited, which at first disappointed me, but I grew to appreciate the unique atmosphere it lent to the photos and the whole scene. Something about the limited visibility and the sea cliffs and sea bluffs being partially obscured felt very fitting for Japan scenery- even at the seaside. It must be all the fog and mist and mountains more inland that we see from the train outside of tokyo.

Anyway, it ended up being a uniquely beautiful day, and we had fun riding in a boat, soaking in scenery, and snorkeling. I saw a school of squid! It was so interesting to see the way they move and glide in unison. And their bodies were all transparent. it was pretty crazy.

  1. The photos are gorgeous! They never would have looked that incredible in full sun, so you are very lucky it was gloomy. Also pretty lucky that you saw a school of squid. I would love to be on that kind of adventure!

  3. Love the photos. I really enjoy the contrast of your bright swimsuit against the gloomy rocks. And I love the swimsuit too! It looks like the Esther Williams ones, of which I have two, so I'm in love. :)

  5. my husband is a strong believer (and he's pretty right) that overcast days are the best for photos because of the even lighting - so for your photos it turned out wonderfully because these are just taken in that perfect time. i've never seen a squid alive - it might freak me out a bit at first honestly! and you look so beautiful, these have this amazing vintage vixen feel to them that i can't help but love.
