I went exploring through some Tokyo suburbs, and happened upon some little neighborhood gems. Jiyugaoka was one of the most charming, with so many nooks and crannies and quaint areas. It was a very refreshing day away from the big big skyscraper center of Tokyo. Here are some images from strolling around town:
right off the train, my first view was...the leaky cauldron? spitting image.
cafe bus!
pretty mural tunnel
like straight out of a ghibli film
kawaii
entrance to a shrine in a park on the outskirts of the neighborhood.
cleansing basin
praying at the shrine
little venice?
a store selling only frog merchandise.
my lunch:)
If you find yourself in Tokyo, and aren't really into the oober urban scene (I'm not...really...) please check out Jiyugaoka. Either Shibuya or Shinjuku station should get you there easily. It's an extremely charming place to spend the day.
where else can you find a place selling only frog merchandise?

DeleteI've never seen a bus cafe before! Genius! Also, those teddy bear biscuits look like they'd be a way better version of teddy grahams!
