an old DIY

I don't know why it's taken me so long to wear my kitsune suspender skirt on this blog. I love suspenders, I love foxes, and I spent a lot of time making it.....over christmas break! and i think I've only worn it three times? See, usually when I have favourite clothes, I hardly ever wear them because I don't want to wear them out. All my favourite dresses are vintage and very delicate, with holes or potential holes in risky places, and all my favourite self made creations terrify me because I'm just learning how to sew, so I feel like it will still fall apart if I put any strain on any seams. So my most loved items just sit in my closet and make very sparse rotations because I want them to last a long time.

Well, also, this skirt isn't hemmed yet. I thought I would have a sewing machine with me here in New York, but now I don't, and I have a bunch of unhemmed skirts hanging up that I've started just wearing anyway. Don't mind my fraying ends!

I got the brown vintage material at a thrift store, and used some faux leather from old boots to make little buttons and a fox accent. The straps are from the underside of a cut off hem.

upcycled kitsune skirt: made it:)
blouse: thrifted
belt: thrifted

also we made a visit to the dumpling man today! such a cute cute little shop with AMAZING shaved ice! it's softer than snow, and we had it topped with brown sugar, mangos, and condensed milk.
