Beijing pt 2: The Forbidden City
The Forbidden City was kind of just indescribable. Photos can't do it justice- the sheer scale of the place is insane and impossible to capture,
and there is a labyrinth of beautiful vibrant halls, alleyways, and courtyards that can only be fully experienced in person.
Also, it was, and probably always is, insanely crowded- so most photos lose their majesty in the hoards of tourists. I
could't get over the colors though.
It was a bright sunny day with deep blue skies, and the contrast against the vivid
mustard roof tiles and rust red walls was totally stunning in person. The whole place was such eye candy, down to every
last detail. I can't even imagine living here permanently. Definitely don't miss this place if you visit Beijing- yes,
it's touristy and crowded, but for a reason. I've never been anywhere this massive and historically significant in my life, and
that's including the Valley of the Kings.
