Ice Castles on Film

I mentioned earlier that one of my goals this year was to push myself to shoot on film more and get more practise. I also am trying to break away from just self- portraiture so I can get more experience shooting other people and being fully in control of shots. I'm hoping to bulk up more of a useable and marketable portfolio by focusing more on these areas since my main work has just been self-portraits for the blog and family portraits to earn money. I'm much more interested in shooting more creative and stylistic photos and if that could somehow be lucrative that would be great.

This shoot was my first time shooting medium format, and to gauge the manual settings I was using an iphone light meter app- which, in the future, I think I might forgo for a real more accurate one. I do like how these turned out, but I wish some of the shots had been exposed a little more differently to see more detail- especially within the ice. They also turned out more washed out and light leaky than I was expecting- and I'm not sure yet if that's due to the actual camera or lens being leaky, or if I didn't properly seal the film in removal. Anyway, I'm mostly just glad I didn't completely screw up on my first time and I do have useable images. Renting good film cameras, buying film, and paying for the processing and prints is really adding up quick though, so not sure if I can really regularly keep this up just yet.
