Our New Playground: NYC

whew guys. we made it all in one piece. and so did all our luggage. We got moved into our apartment...and when I say moved in I mean we put our duffle bags on the hard wood floor and then sat down.....and now Ryan is teaching the LSAT in the New Yorker Hotel while I document our long long day.

first thing's first.

MY DRESS:

and not just any dress, my hand made dress! I have never really sewed anything, and luckily my mother in law happens to be a sewing rockstar so before we flew across the country she helped me learn to use a pattern and figure out how to sew this lil contraption. It was so scary..and tedious..and HARD. but I am one proud mama.

These photos were taken on the steps of the Columbia Library...the historic one, not the functional one. we had a stroll round the austere campus. the architecture is insane!

and here are some pictures from our apartment and building, and the exploring around it:

  2. Welcome to NYC! Living here is the best! I've never been to Columbia, but my husband says the campus is beautiful.

Great job on the dress! I love the scalloped hemline and folded(?) neckline. Very pretty.

  3. I CANNOT believe that you sewed that dress! It is very inspirational. So beautiful for your first go round. I got a sewing machine for mother's day. I've been wanting one so bad. I'm still learning how to thread the needle . . .

  5. That's a heck of a dress. My mother can sew things using those pattern thingys and I've always been jealous.

Congrats on your move to NYC! I'm a Queens gal and hardly ever venture into "the city" so I wouldn't know where to start in terms of good sights. Hope you like it so far.

  6. Ah! so many good things going on here. First of all, I must say that I'm a bit jealous you are living in NYC now! Its always been my dream to live there, and I'm sure you will have the most amazing time. Secondly, your dress turned out AMAZING. I love the fabric you chose. I just wore mine recently as well, and was so happy with how the fit turned out.
