Bahamas Carnival Cruise pt 1
So back in May, during the week between Ryan's last final and his graduation day, we took off on a cruise that left from New York and visited three islands in the Bahamas. Ryan ended up finding some great deal online that gave us a further discount for being New York residents, and then we airbnb'd out our apartment for the week we were gone which pretty much covered the rest of the cost. I can't believe how lucky we were to have been able to go on this trip for practically free- the stars seem to have aligned to give Ryan a great graduation gift.
Neither of us had ever been on a cruise before. Ryan has always wanted to try it, and this was his first choice of what vacation to choose once we had our place subletted. Personally, I've always been kind of weirded out by the idea of a cruise and it had never really appealed to me- I like to have autonomy and the freedom to explore all over when I travel, and it drives me a little crazy to be on someone else's schedule. I was also worried about feeling aimless and stir crazy on the boat for two whole days down and two whole days back.
It ended up being kind of nice, though, to have nothing really to do for a while, because the weeks leading up to the cruise had been really busy for both of us, and being able to just relax, sit in the sun, and not worry at all about meals or itineraries was just what we needed for a little while. We played a lot of Big Buck Hunting in the arcade, ate maybe way too much endless softserve ice cream, and spent a decent amount of time just catching up on sleep and rest.

ReplyDeleteOh wow! So glad you had a nice time! <3
ReplyDeleteI went on a cruise recently to Mexico, Honduras and Belize -- it was beautiful and relaxing, but also a little overwhelming. I am not sure I will be in a huge rush to go on another.

Oh, beautiful! I've never been on a cruise either, and I'm thinking it might be a nice easy way to take a few days' vacation rather than hopping a plane somewhere!
ReplyDeleteLove your swimsuit! So pretty.

ReplyDeleteThese pictures are gorgeous!!, I also think I would feel kind of stuck inside a cruise, but I am sure it must be fun and relaxing if it was only for a couple days.
