ferries, ikea, and brooklyn
A few weekends ago on an actual warmish day we took the free weekend ferry to Ikea in brooklyn. It was lovely being out on the water and in the sunshine and actually feeling comfortable without a coat. We had a great lignonberry filled lunch, I had their princess cake, which I always look forward to and have to stop myself from getting two- and we wandered around for ideas on how to maximize space in a new, probably smaller apartment. Also, we stocked up on their 1 dollar scented candles which are maybe the world's greatest deal. Afterwards, we walked up through carroll gardens and brooklyn heights, taking in the different scenery and vibes from our own neighborhood in manhattan. It's a very refreshing break. We ended up getting our first ice cream of the season near the river and ate it happily in the lingering sunshine ....Then it got really got cold for another week or two. SURPRISE.
