a magical day on the salt flats
A big thanks to friends Jendar and Seth for trekking out to the salt flats with me and helping with taking photos and modeling. We had a picnic and played with ignitable summer goodness, and watched a super moon rise over the flat horizon. Pretty all around magical. I'll be adding my photos of them to my photography tumblr and website, so you can keep an eye out for those! I found this dress at a vintage warehouse in philadelphia. It's several sizes too large, but the fabric is so pretty and the price was good so I couldn't resist. I'm too scared to mess with the delicate fabric, so it fits kind of balloony, especially with a petticoat underneath, but I'm too in love with the print to give up trying to wear it. My time in Utah is drawing to a close and I'm starting to get nervous about driving to california and what awaits me there- but hopefully there will be plenty of exploring to do.

These photos are amazing! For your picnic, did you bring your own salt? Or just, yknow, scoop some up off the ground?

I'm completely inspired by this set of images. My favorite part about following fashion bloggers from all over the country/world is seeing all the different types of landscapes. Being from the Appalachian region, rolling mountains are a common sight, but those salt flats with the jagged peaks behind them are completely stunning in their own unique right.
ReplyDeleteAnd in regards to your question, the lens I was using in those shots was actually my 50mm, so shooting at those lower apertures is definitely a bit more dramatic than with the 85.
Wow, amazing pictures!!!! So incredible! And don't worry, you will love California! It's lovely here <3 Alex

ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit a salt flat. I believe there's one in Bolivia that initially captured my attention. The colored smoke really adds an otherworldly feel to the session.
