nutcracker night

We attended The Nutcracker the other night at the New York Ballet. I was really excited to see the 'original' that set the standard for how it's performed throughout the country today (50's on at least). It was a pretty magical evening- I've always loved the music to the ballet, and we used to go every Christmas with my grandma when I was younger.

I wore one of my very favourite dresses- this green velvet number. I'm missing it already. The last time I packed it on a trip it left permanent weird marks and lines all over the dress from being folded in a suitcase, so I decided to let it have its christmas glory while I was still in New York, and then left it safely in my closet when we took off for Utah. Velvet is so lovely, but so finicky and difficult to take care of. This dress is always getting weird new marks on it where the velvet doesn't stand or lay where it's supposed to anymore. I sure love how the deep green looks with gold accents though, so I'll keep wearing it 'till it's unwearable- it's a great holiday dress.

  1. I'm SO jealous that you saw The Nutcracker performed by the NYC Ballet-- what a wonderful experience. Now that I'm living in New York I'd love to start splurging on wonderful performances and concerts! I hope you had an amazing time.

  3. Heads up in case you didn't realize: you're using Flickr's embed feature instead of HTML, which means that the pictures can't be added to Pinterest directly from your page. I don't know how substantially Pinterest adds to your traffic, but it's something to be aware of.

    That said, you look lovely!
