Over the weekend we took the ferry to Governor's Island to check out Fête Paradiso- a vintage carnival. They restored a bunch of antique rides ranging from 1890-1950, and it was a really lovely time. I was a bit disappointed they were out of cotton candy, and we somehow missed the food (the booth closed earlier than the rest of the carnival) so we were both pretty hungry as we explored around the grounds, but the atmosphere and charm were really impressive. There was a really old calliope playing classic standards, and it was amazing to see all the different parts moving and working together as it played. There was a man who swallowed swords and fire, and fun little sideshow games from bygone eras. There were lots of beautiful old carousels with gorgeous carved wood pieces. It was a really magical time.

  7. This looks fabulous and fun - did you win any prizes on the games? I love that pig on the carousel - so different and quirky. And I love your outfit too - such a sweet top and I LOVE the black and white with splashes of yellow - what a great combination.
