Summer in Japan is the best. There are so many festivities, and so many beautiful ways to light up the night with the glow of lanterns, candles, fireworks, fire, you name it! This lantern festival was particularly impressive, with its massive wall of hundreds of lanterns lighting the way through the booths and to the shrine. I tried my hand at the goldfish scoop game and won a cute little black goldfish with fan shaped fins and bulby eyes.

It was so incredibly crowded though- it was difficult to walk around the navigate the space. We went home after a little bit. We filmed the goldfish and the turkish ice cream we tried, but I can't find the videos anywhere now and I'm worried I might have accidentally deleted them without backing them up amidst the sea of all the other photos and videos that are constantly being uploaded and transferred. good thing we have BRAINS. nature's best hard drive.
