Summer in Japan pt 1

Summer in Japan is just about the most magical thing ever. It seems like there is a festival to attend almost once a week, and the atmosphere is so charming with all the lights, lanterns, fireworks, and sparklers.

While my sister Aliwas visiting, I took her down to Kamakura to see the big annual fireworks festival, or hanabi matsuri. There were lots of people wearing the traditional festival dress, yukata, and booths and booths of delicious food. Everyone gathered on the moon shaped beach as hundreds of fireworks were set off out over the water.
