our humble abode
I've been meaning to post photos of the place we've been living- so here they are. It's a very quintessential Tokyo experience. Set-ups like this are called 'weekly mansions'.....so that's fun. About 12 square feet of space, and the train tracks are literally about 3 feet away from the building. When a train goes by it sounds like a tornado. It feels like a movie and not real life sometimes.
Around the corner from this apartment there is a Japanesey French Bakery (they are everywhere here) that I can't resist dropping in on frequently since it's right by the train station. They have tons and tons a delicious pastries both sweet and savory, for under $2!
kouign amann- $1.40
breaded white fish with asparagus and cheese, in a brioche bun- $1.90
candied orange on top of a sweet bun/ cake hyrbid with a layer of orange marmalade in the middle- $1.60
pain au chocolate with the chocolate still hot and melty- $1.60
ham and cheese croissant/ bun thing- $1.80
yogurt drink with aloe chunks in it- $2.10
can you believe how cheap good food is here!?

Wow, what a location! I wonder if the trains are something you would get used to? And all that food looks so delicious, I can't believe how cheap it is!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! It reminds me of the space my friend lived in while he lived in Kyoto for a year.

Great photos, it reminds me of my first place in Japan, it too was placed near a VERY noisy train line. I think one of the joys of living in a "mansion" in Tokyo is finding out how little space you need and how pared back all your possessions become.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
How are you not three times your actual size??
ReplyDeleteApart from that, I love your style, and love to follow your adventures! :)
