festive 90's explosion!

cowl: etsy
jacket: vintage....trying to decide whether to sell?
boots: vintage......"......"?

Okay so now that our real camera is broken, I at least have a whole bunch of older photos I haven't posted yet to fall back on, most of which contain an item for sale, so if you like what you see, look for it in the tabs above in either etsy or tumblr. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to post these boots or this jacket...if people express interest, I'll consider it more!

So for the next little while, there will probably be a new slew of posts involving a nice looking outfit, and then crappier looking activity photos.

Since Halloween is coming up, and I love holidays and festivities, especially Halloween, I'm trying to really get out and about to some themed things going on. Last night I found a bar/ dinner theatre hosting a 90's TV Show Halloween Special Party, and knew that would be right up our alley. Ryan and I used to watch are you afraid of the dark episodes together all the time when we were dating, and I even had a midnight society club at one point in college, where we would have campfires, tell ghost stories, and sometimes watch the show.

The lineup was pretty awesome: Pete and Pete, Are you Afraid of the Dark, Dinosaurs, Hey Dude, Saved by the Bell, Fresh Prince, and Boy Meets World, to name a few. They screened the Halloween special episodes of all these shows, had a trivia contest and a costume contest. It was totally rad. I liked how some shows actually set their episode on halloween and dealt with trick or treating and/or curses and all that, and then some just had a spooky theme like a murder mystery, or a ghost story, or a scaring contest.

The Hosts were dressed like Artie from Pete n Pete, and Al from Home Improvement, and the winners for the contest were Cory and Tapanga, and a Double Dare contestant. There was so much nostalgia rampant and so much pride and giddiness for knowing and loving our collective 90's memory- I'm so glad we went. We won a free drink for having the best team name (Full House on Haunted Hill- Ryan's proud idea) and I had the pleasure of moseying on over to the bar to ask for a Shirley Temple...which got me a weird look but whatever. It wad actually really really good- I asked for it to be extra limey AND he put extra cherries in it...and it was free. score.

I wore my plaid, oversized cardigan, decorative scrunchie, and chunky ankle boots to channel an Ellen look from Pete n Pete, and Ryan wore his lumberjack flannel and denim jacket and looked JUST like the glasses kid from Are You Afraid of The Dark.

Such a fun way to kickoff Halloween! what fun things are you guys doing this week?

  17. That party sounds like so much fun! I would love to go to something like that. Jasen and I are planning on going to West Hollywood tomorrow night for the crazy annual street party out there, or we might be lazier and hang out with our neighbors and hand out candy.
