So with all the jumble of getting back into the swing of things after our trip, the busyness of job hunting, and the helter skelter vibe of the Hurricane, I realize I totally didn't post anything about my birthday presents. whoops.
Ryan got me these headphones I've been wanting for a while now, which was really exciting! I love them so much:
(sorry for the grainy grain- the iPhone doesn't do the greatest in low light conditions and our apartment is very shadowy)
I love the leather and gold combination and the way they go with any of my outfits (important to me because I am a lil bit crazy). They're super cushiony and provide great sound quality and they envelop my whole head (which is my world) in the music I'm listening to, so that's fun.
Also I bought myself this cute cute monkey sweater, so I don't know if that counts, but I let myself open it on my birthday.
Also, this incredible wood eames era serving tray, with removable matching trays, a bowl, spoon, and lid, all on a revolving platform!
I found this treasure at a thrift store on long island. This would have been like 50 bucks hands down anywhere in New York City. The thrifting is so overpriced here! but luckily out in the suburbs I was like a kid who in a candy store that had only been allowed to explore Godiva shops up until this point. Ryan was a dear and let me get whatever I wanted as presents for my birthday. I also found:
These adorable ceramic lambs. i almost died.
This cute lil embellished teapot
some lovely glassware I'm planning on putting moss in when we can afford moss...
and then, my mom surprised me in the mail with these boots:
I love the little button detail on the sides:)
AND THEN... can you believe there's more? As if I wasn't spoiled already, my fiends Audrey, Jendar, and Devani came over for cake (ryan made my favorite italian lemon cream cake)
And Audrey drew me a picture! I love it so much! She is an incredible artist with the prettiest most whimsical style. her paintings are amazing. I think I'll whet your whistle with that and then highlight her on here sometime soon. she has a blog and a tumblr and her stuff is so great.
So, there it is. sorry it's late, and sorry it's somewhat jumbled, but I wanted to share what a great birthday I did end up having. I was getting really nervous and dreading it because we are all the way across the country from my family and friends and I'm used to having my parents and sisters around for birthdays and I was feeling lonely. I also felt all this weird panic about being 23 and not having any plan for the next month, years, or three years, and the fact that I didn't have a job at all and no prospects for what I studied in college. 23 felt so unexciting and weird and worrisome. But at the end of the night all I could do was be incredibly grateful for a loving, caring husband who surprised me with an amazing getaway and presents, my parents and sisters for sending their love through the mail in letter and pictures, and the fact that I do have friends here that make me feel worth something and included. Not a bad way at all to start my 23rd year.
Gosh, I don't know what to comment on first! Well, happy (belated) birthday, for one! Then, so many cute things!! Those little lambs and tea pot are just adorable, as is your monkey sweater. And your blog is so sweet- what a clever idea to take all the photos with Instagram (or at least they look like instagram). So enjoyable to look at! x
