Recreations in Vernal
On day two of our Vernal trip we spent the first half of the day at the Field Museum, and the second half at the quarry at Dinosaur National Monument. The Museum was small compared to others I've been to, but had a good dose of dinosaur bone displays and a good visual representation of how the land around here used to be and how it has changed over time. My favourite part though, was the dinosaur sculpture garden. I mean. yeah. Dino statues everywhere. It was worth the visit just for those. I also bought two little glass dino figurines to go in my terrariums at home and I'm real excited about that find.
The quarry was really interesting. So the dude who first discovered dinosaur fossils here said he wanted part of the area he excavated to be preserved just as is so the public could see just how crazy plentiful the bones really are around these hills. So back in the day they uncovered about a foot down into a slope, built a big glass atrium around it, made it a national monument, and allowed the public to view and touch these bones for free. It's pretty amazing. There were so many so close together, and so intact, that I had to keep reminding myself that this was real, and not some model or replica like they build in museums or parks for decoration.

I love the Field Museum but I've never been to that quarry. My sister would love that! These pictures all turned out wonderfully, as always. I love your poses with the dinosaurs and your dress is adorable.
