Little Italy

After being sick all week (not usual for me- didn't quite know how to handle that...) I finally got out of the house last night and attended the street festival in Little Italy with Ryan. It was hella crowded, and quite the event. Several blocks were filled with food vendors and decorative lights and arches, and lots of restaurants extended tents to seating right out over the sidewalk and onto the street. It was fun to stroll around and take in all the smells and surrounding neighborhood scenery. Ryan got an italian sausage sandwich and I ended up trying a 'rice ball' which was like a ball of risotto stuffed with ragu meat sauce all deep fried. Very American Italian, but I think that's more what Little Italy caters to anyway, and it was new to me and pretty good.

I really love hoods incorporated into outfits, so I decided to experiment a bit by layering this very thin lightweight vest from Sheinside over my trusty h&m hoodie. I decided it definitely looked better buttoned up as opposed to left open, and I tied it at my waist and skirt line to make it a little more form-fitting, although, I do love the more A-line, loose look as well. I somehow have a shortage of just above the knee A-line high waited skirts, which seems weird, but as I was going through my closet I realized I really only own three and use more colours to work with. They work so well with flats and hoodies/jackets, which is always what I crave when Autumn hits.

outfit: hoodie: h&m
vest: Sheinside
skirt: pib's xchange
shoes: thrifted

I love how you've layered in this outfit. The hooded vest is just so cute tied up like that. The color of your skirt is wonderful too!

  7. Aw, we were sick all week too. Glad you're up and about.

One of my college friends always wore a hoodie under his corduroy blazer and I loved his style. Love how you've layered a hoodie here. :-)

  10. The photo of your where you're amongst the crowd is really nice. In any crowd-situation, I panic and walk straight through without stopping just to find a quiet spot where I can stop my flapping! x
