Antelope Island
The other day my parents and I ventured out to Antelope Island. It's one of my favourite places here- with herds of wild bison, antelope, deer, big horned sheep, amazing views of the Great Salt Lake and surrounding mountains, and a little historic homestead. Turns out my great great grandma was part of the family who came and settled here, built a homestead, and brought bison and cattle over on a ferry to graze. Down the road they lost the land in a financial something or other and another family took over. I think that's the family that still owns it now, and is all over the placards. We might be a litte bitter about the lack of credit....Anyway, being here at sunset is amazing, and it's a fun day adventure. I'd love to camp here some time though!
I can't believe how many Bison we ran into! I was hoping to see a few and get pictures, but we happened upon a huge herd grazing at dusk, and they were all so chill- just chomping on grass and hanging out a little bit off the road. Don't they have the cutest faces? They started inching up closer and closer, so we made our way on over to the small wood pen to our left so we could get more photos without having a hoof and horn run-in.

Oh my goodness lovely pictures! And I love Antelope Island!! Last time I went there in March, we saw fewer Antelope and more Coyotes. And since I'm already commenting, I guess I should just let you know how much I love your blog! I have been reading it for a while now after finding it through Yours Truly xx and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I feel like we have so much in common with the 50s dresses and short hair and the ties to both the East coast and Utah. Anyways, all that to say, I really love your blog and you are awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou are literally the polaroid of perfection. 1. LOVE your haircut. 2. THAT SKIRT<3 3. The photos are so dreamy.

These are beautiful photos. It is nice to see buffalo look so free. I only have seen them in zoos. They are great creatures (my husband's favorite).

Nice shoes, they look super comfy for walking. Where are they from?

ReplyDeleteWell, if the bison were/are for grazing (and then presumably eating), I'm not sure they are quite "free" but "freerange." Still, Buffalo are always really interesting to watch. You look stunning in such simple colors and lines. Timeless and gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a most lovely day.
What an incredible sunset! I love your beautiful scarf and lace top. You have great taste!
